On May the 5th 2018, a symposium of international character will be held on the topic “The smallpox epidemic – a threat to global bio security” organized by the Croatian Society for Bio security and Bio safety. The symposium will be held in the Clinic for Infectious Diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević“ in Zagreb, Mirogojska 8, hall “Falisevac”.

Assistant professors Vanda Juranić Lisnić and Berislav Lisnić, team members of the Center for Proteomics, were invited to the 4th Antibody Validation Workshop organized by the European Network of Academic Producers of Antibodies (EuroMAbNet). The workshop will take place within the CTLS 2018 congress in Ghent, Belgium. The first such workshop was held in Opatija and it was organized by the CapRi team.

A cycle of short free lectures by the University of Rijeka, in cooperation with City of Rijeka and City of Opatija, is being carried out as part of University project for elderly.

Guest lecturer in this program will be our colleague Dr. Sc.  Vanda Juranić Lisnić presenting “The Fight for Life – how we defend ourselves from contagious diseases”. Lecture will be held at the Faculty of Philosophy (2nd floor, room 207) on February 7, at 17 o’clock .

Our team member Dr. Ilija Brizic was awarded for the Best Young Scientist in 2017 by Medical faculty of the University in Rijeka. Congratulations!

Kick-off meeting of all project team members was held in Rijeka at the Center of Excellence for Virus Immunology and Vaccines regarding  project funded by the European Regional Development Fund in amount of 37.716.072,15 HRK for a period of 5 years.

The Foundation Award of the University of Rijeka for the academic year 2016 for young scientists in the category of social sciences and humanities is awarded to the member of the CAPRI team, Dr. Sc. Ani Gerbin. Congratulations!

Prof. Dr. Stipan Jonjić held a lecture at the 1st International Biomedicine Student Congress in Rijeka “BRIK 2017” which aims to foster cooperation and exchange of ideas and knowledge among the faculty students in Rijeka, related faculties in Croatia and wider region.

Our colleague and PhD student Mrs. Paola Kucan Brlic is the winner of 2017. annual award of the Croatian Immunological Society for Best Publication (Journal of Experimental Medicine 2016; 213 (9): 1835-1850) and the prestigious EFIS scholarship for scientific education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

With reference to the Scientific Centre of Excellence grant agreement execution, Prof. Dr. Stipan Jonjic stated on the Croatian Television (HRT): “We will educate people who will be better than us, stay in this country and in that way prevent the brain drain.”
