New research from the Center for Proteomics published in the prestigious journal Circulation Research!

We are delighted to share the news that a study by our researchers, with Marko Šustić, MD, PhD, as the first author, conducted in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Würzburg, has been published in Circulation Research, one of the leading international journals in the field of cardiovascular biology.

The study, “Cytomegalovirus Latency Fuels Inflammation Following Myocardial Infarction,” provides new insights into the potential role of chronic viral infections in recovery following myocardial infarction and connects the Center for Proteomics’ long-standing research on cytomegalovirus with the field of cardiovascular biology.
The first author, Marko Šustić, MD, PhD, is currently a resident at the Clinic for Cardiovascular Diseases, Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka, and is affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka.

We are also pleased that the study has attracted wider public attention, with its findings covered by Novi list, tportal, Index.hr, Riportal and HRT-Radio Rijeka.
