Congratulations to our colleague Ani Gerbin, the CAPRI team project manager for successfully defending her doctoral dissertation “Knowledge transfer process in life sciences”, at the Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana under the mentorship of prof. dr. Mateja Drnovšek.

Prof. Stipan Jonjić was invited as a guest speaker in the show “Theme of the day” at the Channel 1 of Croatian National Television (HRT1), where professor spoke about the use of viruses as vaccines for the tumors, bacteria, and other pathogens. Besides prof. Jonjić, this show also hosted Prof. Alemka Markotić, Head of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević”, and Prof. Srećko Gajović from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Medicine.

On December 16th Prof. Stipan Jonjić held a lecture titled “From virus to tumor – a smart new vaccines in the therapy of tumors” at the University hospital for infectious diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević”. After the lecture participants could also listen to an interesting round table with young scientists.
Prof. Jonjić is the first recipient of the prestigious ERC project in Croatia and head of the Scientific Center of Excellence for viral immunology and vaccines.

From December 12-16, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rijeka will organize event “The Days of the Faculty”. Among the speakers, visitors will be able to also listen the presentation of two CAPRI team members, Dr. Vanda Juranić Lisnić and Dr. Berislav Lisnić. As part of the Open House Days, visitors will be able to visit Center for Proteomics, and also Department for histology and embryology every day from 9:15 AM.

On November 28th, don’t miss the opportunity to participate at the symposium “Employment and perspective of young scientists in Croatia”. The symposium is organized by the group of Prof. Bojan Polić from the Faculty of Medicine University of Rijeka. Among many interesting speakers, you will be able to listen to a CAPRI team member Dr. Ilija Brizić.

On November 23rd 2016 in Zagreb, 15th anniversary of the establishment and work of the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) will be celebrated. Among the present scientists who will contribute to the ceremony will also be a CAPRI team member Dr. Tihana Lenac Rovis. Tihana is also a project leader of the Croatian Science Foundation’s research project “Molecular mechanisms of immune activity PVR (CD155) in viral and tumor pathogenesis”.

Since November 8th 2016, Center for proteomics is proud to have one more Doctor of Science in its team. Ilija Brizić, under the mentorship of Prof. Stipan Jonjić, has successfully defended his doctoral thesis “The role of cytomegalovirus protein MCC-2 in viral tropism and immune response”. Congratulations!

8th EuroMabNet Meeting and 1st EuroMAbNet’s Antibody Validation Workshop was held in Opatija, Croatia and organized by Center for Proteomics, University of Rijeka Faculty of Medicine. The workshop and meeting were sponsored by EFIS, Labena, Labormed and LKB. The workshop was attended by 50 students and researchers.
