Astrid Krmpotić, M.D., Ph.D., is a full professor in the Department of Histology and Embryology at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Medicine. She graduated from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Medicine in 1991, completed a Master's degree in 1998, and obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Rijeka in 2001.
Professor Krmpotić has been the principal investigator (PI), co-PI, or collaborator on numerous competitive research projects, including those supported by the Croatian Science Foundation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the National Institutes of Health (USA), the European Regional Development Fund, and the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Programme.
For her outstanding scientific work, she has received several awards, including the Croatian National Annual Prize for Science. To date, she has published 68 scientific papers and five book chapters, primarily focusing on virology and immunology.
