We have generated 251 monoclonal antibodies against 59 of the 71 (83%) currently known unique VZV proteins i. . For most of the target VZV proteins, there is no other monoclonal antibody available (table 1 - labeled green). These mAbs thus represent the only tool for visualization of a significant proportion of the VZV proteins in infected cells and tissues. This specifically applies for the antibodies that are crossreactive with simian varicella virus (SVV) proteins.
