  Brief description:

In every protein production system, the element called promoter determines the ultimate quantity of expressed protein. We have identified a novel region of a very strong promoter, which is murine cytomegalovirus-derived, and potentially stronger and more comprehensive than the currently most widely used promoter for protein production in mammalian cells. This project aims to characterize, evaluate and assess the commercial potential of our invention. In the short run, we plan to test the functionality of the optimal promoter region, analyse the market and find the optimal commercialization strategy. In the long run, we intend to develop a novel, comprehensive system for the production of proteins in mammalian cells, enhance the promoter as a main commercial product of the Center and use the promoter in the Center’s activities, for the production of proteins-antigens for generation of antibodies.
